Climate resources for camping: A resource-based theory perspective

Camping is a salient economic contributor to nature-based tourism that also beholden the natural environment. Climate resources are combination of naturally occurring meteorological variables empirically observable importance firm performance. Tourism climatologist at forefront climate resource research, where investigations have been primarily derived rather than guided by theory. Accordingly, we introduce management discipline's resource-based theory, operationalizing as public goods in addition other like open access innovation. We investigate value, rareness, and inimitability 36 managed United States National Park Service campgrounds from 1984 2019. Results spatially temporally demonstrate (1) value performance, (2) varies geographically, (3) becoming rarer lower latitude altitude geographies. Implications, limitations, future research directions provided.
